There was a huge announcement today that a new novel by To Kill a Mockingbird author, Harper Lee, will be released in July, 2015. This, however, is a Disney World blog, and although today’s Disney news isn’t as big, it’s a lot more abundant. So, let’s take a look at what’s opened, arrived and coming soon to Walt Disney World.
For starters, the Disney’s Hollywood Studios location of Starbucks is now officially open. This means that you can now buy the coveted “You Are Here” mug, Hollywood Studios edition. Or, perhaps these new cupcakes will tempt you?
Staying in the Studios – there’s some new construction underway near the exit of the Great Movie Ride. There are currently construction walls up and the frame of a small structure can be seen rising up behind the walls. The Great Movie Ride is set to receive numerous upgrades as a result of new partnership with the TCM channel, so this is most likely related.
Moving to Downtown Disney, a new construction milestone has received an official opening date. The new Village Causeway, a large Marketplace bridge that spans between the Rainforest Cafe and the T-REX Cafe, is scheduled to open on Friday, February 13, 2015.
As construction continues on Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney has released some of the future drink options. According to Disney, here’s the rundown of some of the new “handcrafted cocktails made with authentic premium ingredients in souvenir drink vessels.”
“You’ll feel like beach-combin’ royalty sipping on a Castaway Crush—the tastiest drink this side of wicky-wacky Waikiki. Indulge in the hidden treasures of the Polynesian Pearl or, for a whale-of-a-tale, be sure to try the Nautilus. Other new libations include the Dark & Tropical Stormy (no need to batten down the hatches) and the Tahitian Torch.
Be sure to keep a seafaring eye out for favorites imported from Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at Disneyland Resort such as the Shrunken Zombie Head, Uh-Oa!, Krakatoa Punch, and many more.
Sam’s No-Booze Brews will also be available, including the Skipper Sipper, Schweitzer Falls, and Polynesian Punch served in a souvenir sipper.”
And finally, Big Hero 6 is available today for digital download, although you’ll have to wait until February 24 to pick up a Blu-Ray copy.
